چکیده

Although thermoplastics possess many desirable traits as solidified materials, they are combustible and burn readily. Post burning samples of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) the focus this study. During flame spread, PMMA forms a bubble containing molten surface layer that influences spread rate mass efflux. This study examines formation distribution bubbles inside sample has previously been subjected to then re-hardened into its solid state. Experiments discussed herein were conducted in Narrow Channel Apparatus (NCA), which reduces gravitation (buoyancy) on spread. Bubble sizes counts determined using digital image analysis (DIA). The burnt analyzed by dividing images eight equal area sections. Frequency distributions size (area) compared. Distribution functions fitted against empirical probability density function (PDF) for distribution. log-normal predicts all segments. can be used describe physical processes polymeric material it undergoes thermal transformation spreading flame.

Interactional effects of bubble size, particle size, and collector dosage on bubble loading in column flotation

The success of flotation operation depends upon the thriving interactions of chemical and physical variables. In this work, the effects of particle size, bubble size, and collector dosage on the bubble loading in a continuous flotation column were investigated. In other words, this work was mainly concerned with the evaluation of the true flotation response to the changes in the operating varia...

Experimental investigation of bubble growth and detachment in stagnant liquid column using image – based analysis

An experimental study has been carried out to characterize bubble formation, growth, and detachment mechanisms in a stagnant liquid column. Both bubble frequency and bubble detachment size were measured in different gas flow rates, injector diameters and orientations, submergence height, and liquid properties. Experiments were performed for air injection flow rate ranges between 200 mlph and 12...

Determination of Bubble Size Distributions in Bubble Columns Using LDA

A new method is developed for the determination of bubble size distributions from experimental laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) data through simultaneous measurement of only two orthogonal velocity components and the intermittent time gaps arising out of bubbles passing through the measurement point. An experimentally verifiable assumption of axisymmetry allowed the calculation of the three-dimen...

Comparison of bubble detectors and size distribution estimators

Detection, counting and characterization of bubbles, that is, transparent objects in a liquid, is important in many industrial applications. These applications include monitoring of pulp delignification and multiphase dispersion processes common in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries. Typically the aim is to measure the bubble size distribution. In this paper, we present a compreh...

Estimation of Bubble Size Distribution Based on Power Spectrum

A bubble size distribution gives relevant insight into mixing processes where gas-liquid phases are present. The distribution estimation is challenging since accurate bubble detection from images captured from industrial processes is a complicated task due to varying lighting conditions which change the appearance of bubbles considerably. In this paper, we propose a new method for estimating th...
